There's another female fronted Canadian metal band that needs to be on your radar: Freeze The Fall. Quinn 17, vocals and guitar. Aria 15, bass and background vocals. Jonah 16, drums. They have 4 official videos out from their 5 song EP, Thrones. Their first video, Glitch, posted February 1st, led to them being contacted and signed by Canada's largest independent label 17 days later. Recommend starting with their latest video, Broken Glass. Will not disappoint.

Now look at him talking about 'art and artists' wearing pink glasses trashing Pantera, one of the bands that influenced all metalcore bands like Parkway in their early days. Go back to Byron mate.

I love this album, but I recently went track by track with the lyrics up (well, the ones I didn't already know by heart) and man...This album is relentlessly depressing with only the final track really trying to end on a positive note. As somebody who has been struggling with severe depression and multiple attempts in the past 3 years, a lot of it was surprisingly relatable, but not in a "oh I'm sad, I want to die" surface level kind of way. I had no idea Lucas was dealing with that stuff, makes me want to just give the bloke a hug, almost all of these songs are heartbreakingly sad.

I have said this for years and have never denied it, although my band isn't even a quarter in popularity of the other bands who were influenced by FF but my band Burial at sea were heavily influenced by FF and still very much are. I completely understand Dino's frustration with that loudwire video about the good cop bad cop vocals and the triple picking syncopated with the kick drums! I know people would say I'm biased because FF is my favorite band, but it doesn't change the fact that they didn't really start getting there due until 20 years into their career. I love KsE, but they don't deserve the credit for that style they may have popularized it, but sure, as shit didn't innovate that style. FF was doing that almost a decade before Killswitch even existed.

I'm 37 now. When I was around 17 I discovered Trivium. around the same time I discovered Bullet for my Valentine, Killswitch engage, Funeral for a Friend,, Dragonforce ect. In a way they were all part of a new wave of heavy metal for my generation.
